It took us all day to drive from Rethymno over to the south side of Crete to Preveli, west to Plakias, Hora Sfakia, then hop a ferry to Loutro, come back drive to Georgioupoli, and visit the lake at Kavalos, but was definitely worth the trip. It was like driving through Tuscany mixed with the Topanga Canyon (in Los Angeles) and full of more tiny, twisting roads than one ever wants to see while zipping through a foreign country. But it was beautiful, exhilarating and frustrating at times, filled with salty ocean air, dusty churches, and goats with massive testicles.
Side note: I just discovered you can “like” photos on here. Nice. I don’t know why they’re still SO small when you scroll but again if you click the first and use the arrows, they’re much larger.
