Cathedral Window: Northern Ireland

Armagh, Northern Ireland
Armagh, Northern Ireland

This silhouette is from the cathedral in Armagh; the very same Cathedral where my great-great-grand parents were married. My 60-something year old cousins took me there on our tour of the county where the Harvey’s are from. They even showed me the family plot which confirms that nearly every man from the previous generations were named John Harvey just like my dad (other variations include James and Jack but in a list of several dozens, John was the reigning champion). Construction of the Cathedral started in 1840 but stopped for 5 years in 1845 during the famine which is nice to know since there are so many horror stories about the churches using the the funds they were given to help the famine for interior decoration instead of feeding the people. As if we needed one more reason to doubt/hate/mock the church…
